At 4Watoto we are not only committed to the children in our house, but also to the wider community in the Virunga district. Our focus at the moment is on bringing extra education to the district by organizing special days when the 4WatotoHouse is open to visitors. On these days we offer interactive activities and learning moments, so that children from the neighborhood can have access to inspiring experiences and knowledge.

Our biggest community event is the annual Christmas party. Every year we celebrate Christmas with more than 200 children from the neighborhood. There is partying, eating and dancing, and we provide a special day full of joy and connection. We often invite an inspiring speaker, organize a quiz or competition, or let the children think about social themes in groups. In this way we not only stimulate fun and togetherness, but also critical thinking and social involvement.

Through these initiatives we hope to contribute to a strong and close-knit community in Virunga, where children have the opportunity to learn, grow and engage in conversation about important issues.
